To be frank, there are more than one hundred types of arthritis and the number is on the rise. Understanding the different common types of the disease will not only help keep you informed and aware of what you should do to avoid falling a victim but it will also play a major role in the way you care for your inflamed joints. The most widely known forms are osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout and lupus.

Osteoarthritis is by far the most common form of arthritis. It is primarily marked by the breakdown and loss of joint cartilage. As the cartilage wears out, the bones at the joint start to grind against each other leading to inflammation. However, this type of arthritis is accompanied by minimal inflammation since the bones will harden and produce spurs to protect themselves.

The second of the types of arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis which unlike osteoarthritis is not an inevitable aging process. For unknown reasons, the synovial membrane of a joint becomes inflamed resulting in pain, swelling, heat and redness. The symptoms of this type of arthritis vary from one patient to another. Normally, a small infection will result to very prominent symptoms.

For gout, needle shaped crystals of uric acid collect in the joints due to the failure of the body to properly metabolize, or process purines. Purines are chemical components mainly found in liver, kidney and anchovies. The condition mainly targets overweight, fairly inactive men who are above thirty five years old.

Lupus on the contrary is one of the types of arthritis that affects more women than men. It is a condition in which the body's own immune system attacks healthy cells and break them down. If the targeted cells are those at the joints, it will develop into arthritis. The symptoms of lupus are wide and range from joint pain, mouth sores to persistent fatigue.

Given that arthritis is painful, discomforting and even crippling there are many quack arthritis remedies out there for the different types of arthritis since it is known that a patient will almost try anything to get rid of the condition. Most of them do not actually work and in other cases might end up having more side effects hence doing more harm to the body than benefit.

However, with all that manipulation of innocent patients all over the atmosphere, the still are some several workable remedies that will greatly alleviate the pain you get from you joints. These remedies will work to attack and check different types of arthritis. It will be very clever if you strictly check out the credibility of the remedy you decide on to make sure that it is healthy and actually works to avoid further harming your body and wasting money in the process
