My Book of Inspirational Daily Quotes is Invaluable to Me
I have a very difficult and stressful job and it is not at all uncommon for me to start to feel discouraged at work. I am a probation officer, and while I try to help all of my probationers, I know that sometimes I do not get through. A few years ago, my wife bought a book of inspirational daily quotes for me to keep at my office as kind of a motivational tool. I was skeptical at first, but I have to admit that I have come to love that book and thumb through it almost daily.
One of my favorites from the book of inspirational quotes is "Success does not come to you. You go to it." I try to instill this in my probationers, because many of them get the idea that just sitting passively by and letting things happen to them is acceptable, and then they wonder why they are stuck in a rut, unemployed, or whatever the case may be. I have watched as some of my probationers become quite distraught, saying that they will no longer get a fair shake because of their current situation. I always tell them that they are the masters of their own destiny, and that if they want to turn things around, it will require effort on their part.
I also love the quotation "be the change you wish to see in the world." This is one of the inspirational daily quotes that I find the most useful for me and my probationers, and for a couple of reasons. First, I hear over and over again about how everyone else is doing something, so why shouldn't I do the same thing? I always ask people if they are happy with how their lives are going in such circumstances, and the answer is almost always a resounding no. I try to tell them that change starts from within, and I try to hold myself to the same standard. If I do not like a particular behavior, I am certainly not going to emulate that behavior because everyone else is doing it.
I think my favorite of all of the inspirational daily quotes is one that reads, "To those whom much is given, much is required." This is from the Bible, and I really feel that it applies to my life in a couple of ways. Number one, I have a good job that allows me to provide for my family. Thus, I need to take my job seriously and not complain when things get tough. Second, I have a lot of things in life because of my job, and I need to remember that not everybody was blessed in the same way. I can't expect the same things out of some people that I do out of others, and that is a valuable lesson.
Inspirational daily quotes are important to me, and I can see why there are so many books of that nature.
